WHICH WOOD IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We have a clear recommendation: in our experience, personal taste is the only important parameter for a long-term positive product relationship, and thus the only question to answer is:
Which wood do you like best? Quite personally and quite deep inside?
(Falling in love is explicitly allowed).

From a purely technical point of view, all wood species in our range are suitable as cutting boards and differ only in the finest nuances of density & hardness - apart from bamboo, which is characterized by far above-average hardness and resistance, but of course does not look as lively as the other woods.

Containerset:

CONTAINER

PREPARE - STORE - STACK
Our boards always come with a basic set of containers.
So there are always enough containers at hand and you can start cooking easily right away. This way, you quickly have your first flow experience working with the board - and that's important, because only with enough containers does it become easy to work with the board. Positive side effect: The container system also finds its way into everyday kitchen life from the very first day and is usually indispensable after the first few days. And soon you will notice that a few additional containers - in other materials or sizes - might not be so bad.

 Screenshot-2021-08-26-at-10-35-29

SET B6
2 x M100 | 3 x M150 | 1 x L150 | each with lid
Well positioned to face even larger recipes fearlessly. The L container fits into the double bracket when the U-separator is retracted and is also ideal for mixing whole salads directly on the board.

PLASTIC OR STAINLESS STEEL?

 Screenshot-2021-08-26-at-10-35-29

PLASTIC CONTAINER
+ Transparent, making them ideal for storage in the refrigerator.
+ Smoky, desaturated colors are conscientiously balanced - food in the containers looks appetizing and is not drowned out by the colors of the containers, but it still creates a distinguished color impression.
+ Free of BPA & plasticizers.
+ Made in Offenbach, Germany.
+ 100% free of plasticizers (bisphenols type A, B, F, S & phthalates).

 Screenshot-2021-08-26-at-10-35-29

STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINER
+ Robust & "unbreakable": unusually thick walls and high dead weight
+ The polished stainless steel looks stylish as well as high-quality and also a little bit retro - in a good sense.
+ Made in Milan/Italy

I have seen this beautiful wooden board at friends and was immediately in love with the functionality, the container variety, I-Pad mount and of course the wood! Since 1 month I have my own board and use it almost daily. Before each use the board gets a "rubdown" with olive oil and then it starts. What have I done before without ;-) Insider tip: Since the Frankfurter Brett is here, my husband and sons often reach for a knife to prepare vegetables and cut meat. Wonderful invention!

Review Image

Matching the stainless steel container set L3. Since the board did not fit so well in the designated place in the kitchen, I built a table on castors to accommodate it well in the kitchen and to be able to set it up with all the drawers. The wood quality of the board is very good, it repels traces of cut vegetables etc. and it is easy to clean. Working with the Frankfurt board initially takes a little getting used to, as the ergonomics are different from those of other boards, but you get used to it quite quickly and then it's just fun. Especially the preparation of food for several people is easy, fast and uncomplicated. Cut material directly into the containers, waste as well, the cutting area is always free. I love it! And I hardly like to cut anything else. The stainless steel containers are easy to clean, can also without problems in the dishwasher. I deliberately decided in favour of stainless steel, because you can also store warm food there or put it in the oven or a chafing dish. Whereby this decision between high-grade steel and plastic must meet everyone for itself. I recommend everyone to order the spacer rings / anti-slip rings, so the board holds very well on all surfaces and does not slip even under heavy load. Furthermore, I have also received Brettglück MONO 2.0 with a small aroma board, on which I prefer to cut garlic and chillies or an aromatic sausage, which may be a little greasy. The small board is easier to clean. I struggled with myself for a long time whether I really wanted a Frankfurt board (also as a present). In retrospect I have to say, I am totally happy with my Frankfurt board and don't want to miss it anymore! For everyone who loves cooking passionately, the plank is a real miracle in every kitchen!

Review Image

Since April 2018 I am the proud owner of a Frankfurt Brett. Since then I don't want to miss it anymore. The kitchen feels even tidier than before, because there is now a central " cutting place ". The board "Mono" fits exactly on a serving trolley from the Swedish furniture giant, which I pimped up especially for the board. Even the children love to "cut" on the board. Also the time saving is clearly noticeable, if a container serves as waste. I bought another knife block, which is in the display stand. So I have the knives immediately at hand and I can also change the block if I use all display containers. As a bonus, my "cutting place" (by the serving trolley) is also still mobile. So I can also snip outside or in the living room and have all containers ready in the trolley. Simply said: I love this board.

Review Image

More than a year and a half, two years ago I heard about the Frankfurter Brett from a friend. After browsing your website I was very taken with it. With time I wanted to have more and more my own Frankfurter Brett. I had a small kitchen and thought the principle was great. Since I also work in a canteen kitchen, I really appreciate the Gastronorm containers and find the idea of using them at home very charming. The necessary small change was always a reason why I didn't buy the board after I had already configured it in the shopping basket. Gradually, however, the desire for my own Frankfurt board began to grow more and more, especially after we moved and the kitchen in the new apartment was even smaller than it was in the old apartment anyway. So I actively started to save on MY Frankfurt Brett. And then I could give it to myself for Christmas! As a conclusion for me the Frankfurter Brett is a good purchase. Coordinated and efficient you can, admittedly, also work with other equipment, but I like the compactness of the whole thing, even though I still have to struggle with the size of the Frankfurt board here and there when it is not used. So it matures to a well used standard that brings a little luxury into my little kitchen.

Review Image

My kitchen is... manageable. No matter if I prepare a big pot of chili, make sushi with friends, or just quickly make a salad after work or fry potatoes in the pan, somehow it always gets chaotic. That's why I've been flirting with the Frankfurter-Brett for quite some time, also because it appeals to me both as a hobby chef and as a designer. But I always thought "you don't really need something like that"... And now I use the workbench for practically everything, the space between fridge and stove is made for it. You should definitely take the container set with lids, you can purée / marinate directly in it and push things into the fridge for later. The BBQ coating has already proven itself with fish and meat... Simply good!

Review Image

I have always imagined and wished such a board, was too stupid to develop such a thing myself. In any case, it's great, of course it has a permanent place in my kitchen. Thank you very much! H.Weider

Review Image

I ordered the Brett Mono for my father for his birthday a few weeks ago. The ordering, handling and service were excellent. I received the board within 3 working days including engraving. The quality of the board and also of the containers is great. The principle of the Frankfurt Brett is great for everyone who likes to cook a lot. I can only recommend it! It is already the new favourite in my parents' kitchen.

Review Image

I'm not easily satisfied and tend to be prone to some degree of buyer's regret, but not with this board! I can honestly say I'm as giddy about it months later as I was the day I ordered it. I look forward to using it every day and the clean-up is almost as fun as the usage. The efficiency of the board cannot be over-hyped and the quality is what you would expect from precise German engineering. Even my foodie daughter fell in love with my board after a single use. I could literally see the light turn on in her eyes when she fully realized how this could change her food prep experience. I just ordered a Mono for her for Christmas and she’s thrilledIf Porsche made a cutting board, it would be the Frankfurter Brett. LOVE IT!

Review Image

I'm a huge fan of the Frankfurter Brett Mono! It is a beautiful and efficient board. Primarily it has taken the chaos out of prep work, making organization and transferring to pots very easy.
I found it needed two work-arounds: 1) my trays interfered with opening cabinet drawers, so I replaced them with more shallow trays (bought locally) and 2) it isn't really convenient to flip the mono board so I now use a very small additional board just for onions.

Review Image

The Frankfurter Brett is definitely one of the best purchases for our kitchen:
Since it has found its place next to the stove, there is only one question left: Who is allowed to work on the board and when?

Whether cutting vegetables, breading escalopes, rolling and covering pizza dough, forming cookies or preparing the large menu, the board is perfect and simply covers everything.
Perfect is also the size on which you can really work properly. For us as hobby chefs, the Frankfurt board is a must.

And even our daughter is so enthusiastic that her own board is on Santa's wish list - and she doesn't want to share that. Definitely a brilliant product and every cent worth. We are extremely excited!

FAQ

The fact is: All our woods are absolutely suitable for use as cutting boards – from a purely functional point of view there are therefore no significant differences. From our point of view, this makes the choice of wood a purely aesthetic matter and you can simply decide in a pleasant and light-footed manner what suits you best – in our experience this is always the best way to be happy with your products in the long run anyway. (The only limitation: If you own extremely high-quality, not stainless knives (99% of all knives are stainless – if you don’t own stainless knives, you usually know about it), you don’t want to use oak wood, otherwise the black stains typical for oak can occur if the knife accidentally lies on the wood with a moist blade for a long time.)

The logistical processes on a chopping board are surprisingly complex – this can be confirmed by anyone who has ever cooked a little more sophisticated. But what exactly happens and why the Frankfurt board is anything but a short-lived lifestyle product: HERE our detailed blog article about zones of use, working directions and ergonomics when cooking.

Quite the opposite – with our little cleaning routine, cleaning is not only faster, it’s also fun. HIER our blog article on the topic.

Every good tool needs care, as does the Frankfurt board. But that’s no reason to panic: Actually it is done with a little wood oil every 2 weeks – but you can also do a little more. HIER is our detailed care instructions.

Cutting boards made of wood or rather of plastic? Of course we have an opinion – or rather a recommendation: HIER is our article on the topic.

We hear this question relatively often: Unlocked brackets seem like a gross error of thought, but there are actually good reasons for it:
A – CLEANING: To clean the board, simply remove the brackets from the board and put them in the dishwasher – job done.
B – FLEXIBILITY: Especially with our "large" boards, the various brackets can be quickly repositioned as required and adapted to the working situation – a locking mechanism would make this very complicated.
C – SAFETY: Children who pull on a bracket from below could pull the entire board (including the knives on it) off the worktop when the handle is locked. If the brackets are not fixed, the worst thing that can happen is to pull them out.
D – It does not matter in everyday life at all. We have never received a customer complaint that the loose brackets are a nuisance in everyday life.

Unfortunately not. Although all external dimensions of the containers are standardised, the internal dimensions – i.e. where the containers rest on the brackets – are not standardised and vary considerably depending on the manufacturer and in some cases do not fit. So that the boards can be used smoothly right from the start, we deliver our board systems only in combination with containers.
